ABOUT

Sonoraville High School’s Healthcare pathway provides the students with the opportunity to learn about healthcare concepts, technology, and patient care skills, in hopes of helping them identify potential future careers in the healthcare industry. Our healthcare skills lab offers the possibility of training clinical procedures in a safe learning environment. The Health Occupation skills lab contains; nine fully functional hospital beds, training mannequins, assessment, and vital sign equipment, weighted scales, laboratory equipment, assistive devices, and has the equipment necessary to train the students in CPR.

NIKKI SWILLEY

Health Occupations Instructor

Hello, my name is Nikki Swilley. This year I begin my sixth year as the Health Occupations instructor and here at SHS.  I am also beginning my fourth year as an advisor for our student led organization, Skills USA.  Skills USA focuses on personal, technical, and workplace skills, all grounded in academics.  I am excited as Skills USA broadens their efforts into current healthcare principles, trends in healthcare, and community service projects.

Health Occupations Instructor

I am very excited to begin my second year here at Sonoraville High School as a health occupations teacher.  I have 15 years experience as a RN charge nurse in labor and delivery and 5 years experience as a patient educator with a focus on internal medicine.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Valdosta State University in 1999.  I am very passionate about health education, I truly believe knowledge is power.  When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family, and watching my children play various sports.  I am also really passionate about college football season!
